Christopher is also unable to perceive the emotions of others. While he can make certain assumptions with people like his father, "I could tell he was angry because he was shouting" (Haddon 21), other people's emotions confuse him. This discrepancy leads Christopher to make false assumptions about people because he doesn't understand their emotions; which, again, leads the reader to question everything they're told by Christopher. By making Christopher the narrator, the reader must infer or look into human interactions that the narrator does not notice and question if the narrator is being told the truth.
